Djokovic expressed that Jones' comments were disrespectful to him and his Serbiam fans, creating an awkward situation. On Channel Nine, Jones explained that he considered his remarks to be banter but apologized to Djokovic and his fans for any disrespect caused . Channel Nine also issued an apology.
The Serbian Council of Australia called for Jones to be sacked , labeling his comments as "offensive and racist." Jones admitted his "kick him out" comment could be interpreted as a reference to Djokovic's 2022 deportation cover Covid-19 regulations, acknowledging the anger it caused. He expressed his hope that Djokovic could now focus on his upcoming match against Carlos Alcaraz.
Tennis Australia confirmed that Djokovic had accepted the public apology and is now concentrating on his next match.
