Biryani reigns supreme on Swiggy with a whopping 83 million orders in 2024!
Swiggy's 2024 year-end report highlights that Biryani remains the most-ordered dish with 83 million orders, topping the charts in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Biryani is also a favorite for late-night cravings, train journeys, and Ramadan, while chicken rolls and momos rank high among snacks.
Swiggy has dropped its 2024 year-end-report, unveiling some fascinating food trends across India. Biryani reigns supreme, with a staggering 83 million orders from January 1 to November 22. Leading the charge , Hyderabad clocked 9.7 million orders ,followed by Bengaluru with 7.7 million ,and Chennai at 4.6 million.
Earlier this year, Swiggy noted that around 6 million plates of biryani were ordered during Ramada 2024. An amusing tidbit from the report highlighted a Kolkata foodie who ordered biryani at 4:01 am on January1,2024. Birayni also claimed the title of the second most popular late-night snack (between 12 and 2am),with chicken burgers taking the top spot.
Seems like Birayani isn't just food-it's a culinary superstar!
Interestingly,biryani was favorite for train travelers too, thanks to Swiggy's collaboration with the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation(IRCTC), facilitating food deliveries at designated train stations.
In 2024, chicken rolls emerged as the most-ordered snack with 2.48 million orders.Close behind were the chicken momos with 1.63 million orders, and potato fries at 1.3 million. Biryani's popularity isn't confused to Swiggy alone; Zomato's 2023 year-end report revealed it was the most-ordered dish on New Year's Eve.
