Liverpool hold on to beat Wolves and restore seven-point lead

Mohamed Salah"s impressive scoring streak continued as Liverpool secured a tense victory over Wolves, extending their lead at the top of the Premier League to seven points.

Salah, the Egyptian forward , converted a penalty to make it five goals in four league games , with manager Arne Slot from the bench.Slot , who received a red card after Liverpool's draw with Everton in the Merseyside derby, has until Wednesday to respond to a Football Association charge.Despite Everton's 98th minute equalizer, Liverpool began strongly at Anfield, scoring within 15 minutes thanks to Luis Diaz's determination.

Colombian forward Diaz ended a 10 game goal drought by bundling the ball over the line following Salah"s deflected pass by Wolves defender Toti gomes.Twenty two minutes later , refree Simon Hooper awarded a penalty after Wolves keeper Josa Sa fouled Diaz in the box, and Salah calmly slotted home his 23rd league goal of the season.

The match seemed to be a routine win for the Liverpool until Wolves striker Matheus beautifully curled home his 12th league goal of the season in the 67th minute, leaving Slot's side without a home clean sheet since December 1st.On the hour mark, Liverpool were initially awarded penalty after Emmanuel Agbadou was judged to have fouled Diogo, but the decision was overturned after a video assistant refree review showed no contact.

Vitor Pereira's side missed significant chances in the second half , with debutant Marshall Muntesi drawing a one on one save from Alisson and Joao Gomes firing over the top after creating space .Nervousness set in at Anfield as Wolves pushed for an equalizer, but Liverpool held on to maintain their seven point lead at the summit.

Liverpool faces a Premier League trip to Villa Park on Wednesday night , a fixture brought forward due to their advancement to the Carabao Cup final.Four days later , they will take on Manchester City at Etihad Stadium in the league.Although City's form has been inconsistent , they remain capable of delivering performances worthy of defeating any team in Europe. If Liverpool secures maximum points in the upcoming week ,  it will be a significant boost to their title ambitions.

Despite leaving Anfield without points to help their relegation battle , Wolves boss Pereirs can take in his side's performance against the League leaders.

Wolves were unfortunate when  a deflection fell kindly for Diaz, leading to the opening goal , before the Colombian was fouled for a penalty.While Wolves may feel disappointed not to leave Merseyside with a point, they pushed Slot's side harder that many teams have this season.

Although they sit just two points above lpswich Town in 18th place , Wolves can take plenty of positivities into their next legue match at Bournemouth.
