What is the SJM Macao Open?

The SJM Macao Open is a professional golf tournament with a total prize purse of US$1 million. It is co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the Macau Golf Association, and it is jointly organized by SJM, the Sports Bureau, and the International Management Group (IMG). The 2026 edition marks the 23rd time the tournament is being held and features seven of the top 10 players currently in the 2026 Asian Tour Order of Merit.

Why this is trending in Sweden

Interest in Sweden is driven by Henrik Stenson's return to international competition after a period of transition in his career. Stenson, a major champion, is a high-profile figure in Swedish sports, and fans are following his performance as he seeks to build on his recent momentum on the PGA Tour Champions.

What happens next?

Stenson will face a strong international field, including players like Sungjae Im and Paul Casey. The golfer has noted that he will have limited time to familiarize himself with the course and must quickly develop a strategy to compete effectively. Following the conclusion of the event on Sunday, October 18, results will be available to confirm his final standing.

What is confirmed and what is not

It is confirmed that Stenson is in Macau and is scheduled to compete in the tournament starting October 15. Details regarding his specific tee times and the final leaderboard will be determined as the tournament progresses. Whether he will secure a top finish remains to be seen, as the competition is described by organizers as a strong field.
