Rory McIlroy and Patrick Reed Face Off in New Delhi

Rory McIlroy is currently in New Delhi, India, competing in the DP World India Championship at the Delhi Golf Club. The professional golfer is participating in the tournament as part of his ongoing campaign in the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai, where he is attempting to secure his eighth season-long title.

As of October 15, 2026, McIlroy is joined in the field by Patrick Reed. The two players, who have a long-standing competitive rivalry dating back to the 2016 Ryder Cup, are both seeking valuable points to improve their positions in the tour rankings. While Reed currently holds the lead in the standings, McIlroy sits in third place.

Why this is trending in United States

The interest in the United States stems from the high-profile nature of the rivalry between McIlroy and Reed, which has spanned several years and multiple major golf tournaments. Their opposing roles in the broader professional golf landscape continue to draw significant attention from American sports fans.
