Corrections policy
We want to get things right, and we fix mistakes in the open.
How to report a problem
Use the Contact page to tell us what is wrong, which story it is in, and where we can check the correct information. Official statements and primary sources help us most.
What we do
We check the report against the original sources. If a fact in a story was wrong, we correct it and add a note at the top of the story that starts with Correction and shows the date. If a story only needed new information, the note starts with Update. We do not quietly rewrite stories without a note.
Stories that are no longer current
Many stories are built around what people search for on a given day. When a topic stops trending, the story is marked as archived. Old stories that are too thin to stay useful may be removed from search engine results.
