Why Sharon Rooney is Trending on The Celebrity Traitors

Scottish actress Sharon Rooney has become a primary focus for viewers of the BBC programme The Celebrity Traitors as her strategic gameplay and investigative skills gain traction. As of October 23, 2026, the 38-year-old star is generating significant search interest for her ability to remain under the radar while simultaneously uncovering key details within the show's castle setting.

Why it is trending now

The surge in interest follows recent episodes where Rooney, who has humorously dubbed herself "Poundland Poirot," successfully applied deductive reasoning to a "murder in plain sight" twist. While many contestants have been eliminated for their vocal gameplay, Rooney has been credited by fans and media for maintaining a quiet, observant profile that has helped her avoid early banishment.

Key facts

• According to The Daily Star, Rooney discovered an empty perfume bottle in the castle library, which provided a crucial link to the murder of fellow contestant Ross Kemp.
• Good Housekeeping reports that Rooney was part of the majority vote that correctly identified and banished Richard E. Grant during the series' third episode.
• Rooney has been noted for refusing to be swayed by popular theories, such as the widely discussed "lipgloss-gate" incident involving other contestants, as noted by Good Housekeeping.
• Metro.co.uk highlights that fans have expressed concern for her safety in the game now that her "genius" detective work has made her a target for the remaining Traitors.

Why this is trending in United Kingdom

The interest is driven by the popularity of the BBC's The Celebrity Traitors among UK audiences. Viewers are actively tracking the progress of high-profile contestants as the competition intensifies, with Rooney's transition from a quiet player to an active investigator serving as a major talking point on social media and entertainment platforms.

Background and context

The Celebrity Traitors features a group of famous contestants competing as either "Faithfuls" or "Traitors" in a Scottish castle. The game requires Faithfuls to identify and banish the Traitors before they are "murdered" out of the competition. Rooney’s participation has been marked by her calm demeanor in high-pressure Round Table discussions, a stark contrast to more theatrical players who have already been eliminated.

What happens next

As the competition progresses, Rooney faces the challenge of maintaining her investigative momentum without drawing excessive attention from the Traitors. While her deductive skills have impressed viewers, media reports suggest that her newfound status as an "unlikely detective" may make her a prime candidate for the next "murder" in the game. The outcome of these developments remains to be seen as the series continues.
